Colts vs. Broncos prediction and odds for Week 5
The Indianapolis Colts will play the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football. Here are the odds and a prediction for the game.
During the offseason, once it became evident that Russell Wilson would be leaving the Seattle Seahawks, many felt that the Indianapolis Colts could be a good fit. Fans were creating their best photoshops of Wilson in a Colts uniform and media members were breaking down what kind of fit it would be. Ultimately, Wilson opted to go with the Denver Broncos and Indianapolis acquired Matt Ryan.
Both Denver and Indy entered the season with high expectations but things are off to a rocky start for both teams. The Colts are 0-2-1 and have been struggling to generate consistent offense. The Broncos are 2-2 but their offense has also been struggling and Russell Wilson hasn’t hit his stride with his new team yet.
Despite both teams struggling, they’ll be challenged with a short week as they have to take on each other for Thursday Night Football. How will Thursday’s game play out?
Colts vs. Broncos odds Week 5
Both teams will enter Thursday night coming off a loss but FanDuel has Denver as the favorite to win this game at -174 (bet $174 to win $100). Indianapolis is +146 underdogs (bet $100 to win $146). However, the oddsmakers do expect this to be a close game.
The spread for this game is just 3.5, according to FanDuel. The odds of the Broncos winning by four or more points is -105 (bet $105 to win $100). Meanwhile, the odds of the Colts losing by three points or less is -115 (bet $115 to win $100).
The over/under for this game is set at 43.5 points with the odds for both the over and under at -110. That means a $110 bet on the over will win $100 if the combined points equal 44 or more and a $110 bet on the under will win $100 if the combined points equal 43 or less.
Colts vs. Broncos prediction Week 5
One thing that’s almost a certainty is that this game won’t hit the over because both offenses are struggling right now and both defenses have been playing very quality football. Denver is allowing just 284.8 yards a game which ranks them fourth in the league. Indianapolis is two spots behind at No. 6, allowing just 297 yards a game.
The offenses, on the other hand, are down towards the bottom of the league. The Colts are putting up a league-worst 14.3 points a game and the Broncos are only slightly ahead at No. 30, scoring just 16.5 points a game. So who will win this defensive struggle?
As Indianapolis knows best, the real difference maker is turnovers. Unfortunately for the Colts, they’re more likely to turn the ball over and that won’t benefit them in the outcome of the game. Denver only has four turnovers through the first four games but Indy has nine. In the end, that could be the deciding factor on Thursday.
