The Indianapolis Colts recorded a huge win over the Chiefs in Week 3. How did that upset victory impact Indy in the latest power rankings?

The Indianapolis Colts started the season with extremely underwhelming performances against the Houston Texans and the Jacksonville Jaguars. The disappointing start led to many giving up on the Colts, especially with the team playing the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3. However, Indianapolis showed why they aren’t a team that should be counted out.

Indy welcomed Kansas City into Lucas Oil Stadium and delivered a shocking upset. Behind a quality defensive performance and an opportunistic special teams unit, the Colts were able to win 20-17. The game got Indy back on the radar of many fans and experts and that was represented in the latest round of power rankings.

Where the Colts rank across expert Power Rankings

Entering Week 3, Indianapolis was coming off two horrid performances so they had an average power ranking of 25.3, considered one of the worst teams in the league. After beating one of the best teams in the league, Indy is entering Week 4 with an average ranking of 20.5.

ESPN ranked the Colts at No. 20, a five-spot increase from last week. Stephen Holder highlighted Matt Ryan’s struggles behind Indy’s offensive line as something that needs to keep improving.

The NFL’s site has Indianapolis ranked at No. 23, up just three spots. Dan Hanzus praised the defense for their Week 3 performance but said Indy still has a lot of must-improve areas.

CBS Sports moved the Colts up eight spots to No. 17. Pete Prisco also praised the defense and said Matt Ryan made just enough plays to win.

FanSided elevated Indy from No. 25 to No. 22. Matt Verderame called the upset of the Chiefs “nothing short of miraculous.”

Colts’ Super Bowl odds entering Week 4

With an upset over Kansas City, Indianapolis probably has more confidence that they can contend now but there still is a lot of work to be done. According to FanDuel, the Colts have +3400 odds to win the Super Bowl. That’s the 15th best odds in the league. While the odds are improved from Indy’s +4000 odds of last week, Indy has dropped one spot after having the 14th best odds entering Week 3.

Indianapolis will look to get its second win on Sunday, going against the rival Tennessee Titans. Like Indy, Tennessee also got off to an underwhelming start and is looking to find its footing. This will likely be a tough, physical game as it always is when these two teams meet up.
