After being blown out by the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2, the Indianapolis Colts now have some company following Week 3.

In Week 2, the Indianapolis Colts suffered another embarrassing loss to the Jaguars in Jacksonville. Indy was shutout 24-0 and many were concerned because the Colts were embarrassed by what everyone assumed was a bad Jaguars team. However, that may not have been the case. Indianapolis was embarrassed but the Jaguars may not be bad.

The NFL world came to this realization on Sunday during Week 3 when Jacksonville was embarrassing a talented Los Angeles Chargers team. The Chargers entered the game at 1-1 after a tough loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and they were a little beat up but none of that even mattered. The Jaguars jumped on Los Angeles early and won the game 38-10.

This led many to wonder if Jacksonville is actually a team to watch this season. The Jaguars lost a close game late to Washington in Week 1 and responded with two blowout wins over possible contenders. After a couple of years of being the league’s worst team, could they finally be turning things around?

Are Jaguars the biggest threat to Colts in AFC South?

To be clear, even if Jacksonville is good, Indy’s Week 2 loss was still embarrassing. The Colts are supposed to be contenders and they should never play like that against any team, no matter the quality. However, it is easier to accept if the team is actually an elite franchise. Is that the Jaguars right now?

It’s still too early to tell but they have been doing a lot of things well and it won’t be surprising if they can maintain being competitive for the remainder of the season. Jacksonville has a more experienced Trevor Lawrence, several other talented draft picks, and many veterans that the team spent a ton of money on during the offseason.

Many wondered if the massive spending spree would pay off immediately and it’s seeming like it is. The Jaguars are currently the top team in the AFC South with a 2-1 record but it’s still so early into the season. However, Jacksonville could be the biggest competition for the Colts in the race to the division crown.
