The Indianapolis Colts are preparing for their home opener against the Kansas City Chiefs and the injury report could be a factor in the game.

The Indianapolis Colts are heading into Week 3 with a record of 0-1-1. The Kansas City Chiefs will be rolling into town coming in at a solid 2-0. Indianapolis is certainly going to have its hands full with Patrick Mahomes and company. One thing the Colts hope gets resolved heading into week three is health.

After losing badly to the Jaguars in Week 2, Indianapolis is hoping to get back some of the players that missed last week’s game. With a more healthy roster, Indy has a better chance of upsetting the Chiefs.

Kansas City Chiefs injury report

On Wednesday’s injury report, The Kansas City Chiefs had some familiar names on their list. Kicker Harrison Butker (Ankle) and defensive end Mike Danna (Calf) did not practice. The only person that was limited was wide receiver Mecole Hardman (Heel.) Wide receivers JuJu Smith-Schuster (Shoulder), Justin Watson (Chest), and Marquez Valdes-Scantling (Hip), along with linemen Trey Smith (Ankle) and Orlando Brown (Knee) were all full practice participants.

The Chiefs are a little bit more banged up than the other two teams Indianapolis has played in the 2022 season.

Indianapolis Colts injury report

On Thursday’s injury report, The Indianapolis Colts saw a more positive side to the injury list. Rookie offensive lineman, Bernhard Raimann (Ankle), had a limited practice after missing Wednesday’s practice. Defensive linemen DeForest Buckner (Hip) had a full practice after being limited on Wednesday and Yannick Ngakoue (Back) missed practice after being limited on Wednesday.

Wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. (Quad) was limited on both Wednesday and Thursday.

Now, for the more positive news. Safety Julian Blackmon (Shoulder), linebackers Zaire Franklin (Shoulder) and Shaq Leonard (Back), rookie wide receiver Alec Pierce (Concussion), and finally defensive tackle Grover Stewart (Shoulder) were all full participants in both practices.

Is Shaquille Leonard playing in Week 3?

The Colts are hoping to have a decision on if Leonard will play or not in the coming days. The team has been deciding after every Friday practice if he will suit up or not. Leonard has not played this season.  Whenever he does make his season debut, his impact will be welcomed back into the lineup

Will the Colts be challenged by injuries?

The Colts seem to be a whole lot healthier than they were last week. The Chiefs have some guys that could possibly be out that are big playmakers for them. The most interesting of all injuries that I will be watching is going to be with kicker Harrison Butker for the Chiefs. Can the backup kicker drill kicks when they are needed if he is out?

If the Colts are healthy, can they make this a game and maybe win it? It will be fun to watch for sure.
