2. Edge Rusher – Josh Allen

The next player that the Colts need to zero in on and always know where he is, is Josh Allen. Allen is arguably the best player on this Jaguars roster. He always seems to get to the quarterback and make plays in the backfield. Sunday against the Commanders, Allen had four tackles (two for loss) and a forced fumble. Allen often makes plays at the right time for Jacksonville.

Allen commands a lot of attention. The line for Indianapolis did a decent job against the Texans last Sunday, but there were plays where guys got embarrassingly beat, and that was against Houston. Allen and the rest of this talented defense will try to tee off on Matt Ryan and the rest of the Colts’ offense.

I think that the best way to do it is to either consider doubling him if he starts to cause problems, or just keep a tight end on the side that he is on. Allen lines up in all kinds of places, so Indianapolis must always know where he is. There are times that he drops back in coverage, there are times he is lined up over the tackles, and every other place on the defensive line. Allen is one of the best young pass rushers in the league. Indy must keep tabs on him at all times or he will have a huge impact on the game.

Allen is not the only guy on this defensive line that can make a difference, but if you look back to last season, in the game we played there in Week 18 and the Jags game against the Bills, Allen made the biggest impact. If you limit his damage, you have a good chance. If he runs wild, we are in for a dog fight.
