3 keys to victory for the Colts against Texans in Week 1
By Dailey Gee
1. Colts must get off to a fast start
Probably the most important thing to coming away with the win this Sunday is getting off to a hot start. If the Colts come out and think they are just going to walk in there and win like they did last season, they are going to be badly mistaken. It has been emphasized multiple times that team owner Jim Irsay has talked about how we will get off to a better start this season. We have been playing behind the eight-ball to start the season for the last eight years.
I do not believe that we have much to worry about as far as the Colts getting off to a hot start. Several players have talked about the bad taste that is still in their mouths after the Week 18 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars that eliminated them from the playoffs. The Colts need to strike quickly on the offensive side of the ball and get this Texans team on their heels early.
On the defensive side, rallying to the ball to limit carries to a short gain is what the Colts need to do. They also need to do what they can to stop Brandin Cooks, the Texans’ No. 1 wide receiver. Keeping our offense on the field will be one of the most important things in this game. If we dominate the time of possession and put up points, we will be alright.
I am intrigued to see what Colts team we see to start off the season. Everyone knows about the slow starts in years past. It is time to put those behind and start off this season at 1-0!
