As the NFL season kicks off, the Indianapolis Colts are a promising team with players that some believe will be MVP candidates this season.

The Indianapolis Colts haven’t had a league MVP since Peyton Manning won in 2009. Manning also won as a member of the Colts in 2008, 2004, and 2003, so Indianapolis got used to having a league MVP on the roster. That hasn’t been the case recently, but some believe that could change.

As the season begins, everyone has been getting in their final predictions for the year, including predicting an MVP winner. The host of “Good Morning Football” got in on the fun on Wednesday and one host predicted that a player from Indianapolis will win the award.

The host was Jamie Erdahl and she predicted that Jonathan Taylor will win the 2022 NFL MVP award.

Jonathan Taylor is predicted to win MVP

Erdahl argued that Taylor was robbed of winning MVP last season and boldly predicted that he will win the award this year and also lead the NFL in rushing yards for a second consecutive year. Erdahl believes Taylor will still be the central focus of Indy’s offense and will continue to run the team to victory.

However, it will be an uphill battle for Taylor to make Erdahl right and she acknowledged why. While Taylor should have an elite season and should definitely find himself in MVP conversations, the award has become incredibly biased towards quarterbacks. A running back hasn’t won in 10 years, since Adrian Peterson in 2012. Since then, it’s been all quarterbacks.

In order for that change, Taylor will have to have another otherworldly season and the Colts will have to win a lot of games. Unfortunately, even if Indy is the best team in the league, and Taylor is playing like the best player in the NFL, there’s still no guarantee that he receives more votes than whoever is the top quarterback this season. Luckily, Jonathan Taylor cares far more about the team’s success than if he rightfully wins MVP or not.
