The Colts need to have an explosive offense in 2022

What is the first thing that comes to mind when we look at last year’s Super Bowl teams? Both Cincinnati and Los Angeles had explosive weapons that moved the ball down the field.

You could say the same thing about most of the AFC contenders as well. The best of the AFC right now is often considered to be Kansas City, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Tennessee, and Baltimore. All five of these teams have the it factor on offense that makes them better than the rest.

With Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, and Lamar Jackson, it makes it hard to keep up in a game if your offense takes one break in a series. Remember the Bills vs Chiefs game last year when the two teams put up more points in the final two minutes of regulation than the Colts did in most games in 2021?

The Colts must be aggressive on the field and score points. If they start settling for field goals and punts, the season is a wash. The best era of Colts football was when Peyton Manning was driving every series and scoring touchdowns. Indy has to make teams catch up to them and not play from behind.

Goal No. 1 for the Colts

Frank Reich and his offense need to focus on 4,000 yards passing and 2,000 yards rushing this season. A balanced, yet explosive offense will get the job done in the AFC. The defense is already top-notch, but if the offense can put it together, the team will do wonders in 2022.

That started with trading for Matt Ryan and drafting a wide receiver early in the draft. Ryan has been to the Super Bowl before and is a smart quarterback that is not going to get you into trouble often.

Could the Indianapolis Colts have the formula this year to make it to the Super Bowl? The last two champions were teams that were aggressive in the offseason and brought in a veteran quarterback to put it all together. Tom Brady and Mathew Stafford were both in their first season with the teams when they won the Super Bowl.
