2. Alec Pierce had a dominant day

Throughout camp, Indy’s first overall pick this year, Alec Pierce, has had some up and down moments. However, Wednesday’s practice with the Lions was probably his best day yet. Pierce was basically unstoppable all day.

He got his day started in 1-on-1s against Detroit’s defensive backs and he was having his way against talented guys like Jeff Okudah. Pierce was catching everything imaginable, from slants to deep balls, he was looking like a complete receiver.

With many worthy moments to choose from, the highlight of Pierce’s day was probably when he went up over a defender in the end zone to snag the ball for a touchdown. The defender fell to the ground and Pierce celebrated while letting the defense know they couldn’t guard him.

The physical, go-up-and-get-it style is what made Pierce electric at Cincinnati and it’s something the Colts need in their offense from someone not named Pittman. If Alec Pierce can show up consistently like he did today, Indy’s passing game is in good shape.

With Jonathan Taylor and guys like Quenton Nelson and Ryan Kelly up front, the run game is a given. However, the passing game depends on guys like Parris Campbell staying healthy, and Alec Pierce quickly adjusting to the NFL. So far, it’s looking like he will be doing that just fine.
