Colts players on the roster bubble after first preseason game
By Brad Marr
More Colts players currently on the roster bubble
OT Dennis Kelly
Dennis Kelly was brought in to add competition as a veteran to the offensive line. However, Matt Pryor has looked to run away as the starting left tackle to enter the season with 2022 draftee Bernhard Raimann as the guy behind him. Kelly will have to see if he can provide depth somewhere else along the line.
RB Phillip Lindsay
Once the premiere back in Denver, Phillip Lindsay has since turned into a journeyman talent after spending the last year on the Texans, and Dolphins. The Colts could be his last chance to hold a roster, but as RB3 or 4 it doesn’t seem promising.
CB Will Redmon
Will Redmon is a veteran defensive back that has to make some special teams plays. He has had a pretty quiet camp thus far.
WR DeMichael Harris
DeMichael Harris was inactive most of 2021 and his best chance to make the roster is as a special teams impact player— unless he breaks out at receiver out of nowhere.
S Armani Watts
Armani Watts was acquired in free agency this offseason and has spent most of his career as a special teams player and depth safety. He is currently the third-string strong safety behind Nick Cross and Rodney McLeod, so he will have to prove his value as a specialist.
Preseason is going to be the ultimate factor in how these players progress their status to hold to a roster spot on the Colts in 2022. Wide receiver continues to be the biggest position of concern for the Colts but the dust could settle if the Colts bring T.Y. Hilton back for another run. If that happens, Indy will be forced to get rid of another player that’s on the bubble.
