Entering his third year, Jonathan Taylor has found success early with the Indianapolis Colts and can reach some new milestones in 2022.

Coming off a second-year campaign that produced the most rushing yards in the league, Jonathan Taylor has the chance to be even more prolific at the conclusion of his third season with the Indianapolis Colts. He’s close to hitting some milestones that could put him at the top of the running back list in a couple of categories.

Recently, Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports looked at several milestones that could be reached in the upcoming NFL season. From veteran players like Tom Brady and Von Miller to young guys like Ja’Marr Chase and TJ Watt, there are some impressive marks in reach for numerous guys.

Jonathan Taylor is also one of those players. Taylor is just 16 touchdowns away from surpassing Barry Sanders (47) for the most-ever by a player in their first three seasons in the NFL. Currently, JT has 32 career touchdowns.

Last year, we saw Taylor score 20 touchdowns (18 rushing and two receiving). Getting just 16 seems very easy if he can get into the endzone at least once per game.

Additionally, Taylor just needs eight games with 100 rushing yards and a touchdown to surpass both Earl Campbell and Eric Dickerson for the most such games by a player in his first three seasons. Both Campbell and Dickerson had 19 games in their first three seasons and Taylor is currently sitting at 12 with at least 100 yards rushing and a rushing touchdown.

Let’s not forget what the Colts’ record is when Jonathan runs for more than 100 yards. Until the loss to the Las Vegas Raiders at the end of last season, the Colts were 12-0 when they saw their RB1 run for more than 100 yards. Indy’s overall record is now 12-1 in his first two seasons.

If that trend can continue, not only is Taylor looking at two large milestones this season, the Colts could be looking at the playoffs easily. The schedule is set up so that this could be an easy task for Taylor and Indianapolis to complete this year.
