Heading into the 2022 NFL season, we can already count players out that will not be on the Indianapolis Colts roster in 2023.
There is hope that every player in the NFL does well and gets the long overdue contract that lands them in the same city for years. However, there are obviously many that just don’t fit the scheme or have the drive to continue.
Unfortunately, for some players on the Indianapolis Colts, good times aren’t coming soon. Chris Ballard is very adamant about ensuring that the Indianapolis roster is the best of the best on his dime. He is not a big fan of overpaying someone that just isn’t as big of a playmaker as they might think they are.
As a result, three Colts players’ time with the team is likely coming to an end after the 2022 season. I’m not even sure that a good season will save them in the future based on what the team has done this last offseason. Let’s take a look at the three guys entering their last season in Indianapolis.
3. Tyquan Lewis is a goner after this season
Is there a lot of shock when it comes to the statement above? The team already moved on from one 2018 draft miss by letting Kemoko Turay walk in free agency, let’s do the same with Tyquan Lewis.
After the Colts went out and traded for Yannick Ngakoue and then continue to build up with young guys like Kwity Paye and Dayo Odeyingbo, there isn’t much room for Lewis moving forward.
In his four seasons in Indianapolis, he has only played in 41 out of 65 total games that he was eligible for. He has only started in 12 of those 41 games, too. That’s not a great stat for someone that needs to be on the field to prove himself.
It’s finally time to cut ties with another mistake from the 2018 draft and move on with what the Colts currently have. Don’t be shocked if he is cut before the season starts.
