A look at two UDFA hopefuls that should end up on the Indianapolis Colts’ final 53-man roster at the end of training camp.
After the 2022 NFL draft, the Indianapolis Colts agreed to terms on contracts with 22 undrafted free agents. Some of these players have already begun showcasing their abilities this offseason through Indy’s OTAs and minicamp. They’ll soon have more opportunities to impress with training camp just around the corner as the Colts return back to Grand Park on July 27.
Of course, we’re all excited to see the newest Indianapolis draftees take the field. Alec Pierce, the Colts’ first pick in this year’s draft, is already settling in to compete as WR2 on offense. Tight end Jelani Woods, a third-round draft pick, is a freak athlete that could steal starting reps in a position battle with Mo Alie-Cox.
On the defense, Nick Cross is looking to be the only rookie starter on that side of the ball while Curtis Brooks, a late-round pick of the Colts, should make his way to being a solid rotational player on the interior of the defensive line.
All that said, the anticipation of training camp will have most of us on the edge of our seats in these position battles. But let’s not overlook some quality players that can seal a roster spot or at least earn an opportunity.
There are plenty of UDFAs that will be making their cases for an opportunity to chase their NFL dreams. Right now, I’ll cover guys that should be locks to make Indy’s final roster.
