Here’s why NFL fans should follow Alec Pierce during Colts training camp

As training camp approaches for the Indianapolis Colts, Alec Pierce is a young receiver that can draw the eyes of NFL fans all over.

All offseason, the Indianapolis Colts were told to address their wide receiver position. However, they didn’t do it on everyone else’s clock. Indy didn’t offer any free agents a big contract or trade for any disgruntled wideouts. Instead, the Colts set back most of the offseason and waited until the NFL Draft.

That’s when Indianapolis made its move for a wide receiver, using its first overall pick to select Alec Pierce in the second round. Pierce, a big, explosive receiver from Cincinnati, should see immediate playing time for the Colts and it will benefit the team if he can immediately be productive.

There have already been some high expectations placed on Pierce as ESPN’s Louis Riddick has predicted he will win Offensive Rookie of the Year. Now, Kristopher Knox from Bleacher Report has named Alec Pierce as a potential fantasy football steal.

Knox highlights that Pierce isn’t projecting as a draft-able player in fantasy, but that he is in a perfect situation to become an immediate contributor. With Indy’s question marks at receiver, Pierce has the chance to assert himself as the WR2 behind Michael Pittman Jr.

Additionally, he has the privilege of playing in an offense where many opposing defenses will be focused on slowing down Jonathan Taylor. That means that Pierce may get a lot of one-on-one opportunities to use his speed, athleticism, and big body to make explosive catches— something he was really good at in college.

Knox encourages NFL fans that play fantasy football to keep an eye on Pierce as the season approaches. The case is made that Pierce can already be taken in the late rounds, but with a strong camp and preseason, he may be worth drafting earlier than that.
