Head coach of the Indianapolis Colts, Frank Reich, has had a solid tenure with the team but there’s something he’s yet to accomplish.

Since joining the Indianapolis Colts in 2018, Frank Reich has done a relatively good job coaching Indy. He’s navigated the team to three winning seasons, with an overall record of 37-28. Reich has also led the Colts to two playoffs in his four years and picked up one postseason win.

Just recently, PFF developed a model that said Reich was the ninth-best coach in the NFL. However, despite the praise that Reich often receives, there is one accomplishment that many good head coaches have that Reich has yet to achieve.

In his four years as a head coach, all with the Colts, Frank Reich hasn’t won a division championship. He’s had a 10-win and an 11-win season, and both earned Indy a trip to the postseason, but a Reich-coached team has never finished first in its division.

Frank Reich should win first division championship next season

The Colts have a pretty good chance to change that this upcoming season. Indy has built up its roster during the offseason and is the current favorite, according to WynnBet, to win the AFC South.

The biggest competition will be the Tennessee Titans, the team that has won the division the last two years. Tennessee gets back a healthy Derrick Henry and many other pieces, but they will be without AJ Brown after trading him to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Jacksonville Jaguars spent a ton of money this offseason and brung in a good coaching staff, but they may still be a couple of years away. The Houston Texans on the other hand, need a lot of help.

The division should once again come down to the Colts and the Titans. As things currently stand, Indianapolis is better equipped to win the division. However, that must be done in the fall and not during the offseason.

If the Colts can capitalize on the talented roster they’ve built up over the last few seasons, Indianapolis would have its first division championship since 2014, and Frank Reich should have the first of his head coaching career.
