Colts fans can’t resist envisioning a 2.0 version of Indy’s triplets

The Indianapolis Colts had an incredible trio with the names Manning, Harrison, and James, and many fans are hoping that can happen again.

In the late 90s into the 2000s, the Indianapolis Colts built an elite offense focused around three players. Quarterback Peyton Manning, wide receiver Marvin Harrison, and running back Edgerrin James.

All three were drafted by the Colts and played a huge role in turning the franchise around and helping Indy win Super Bowl 41. Now, the trio of Manning, Harrison, and James are all in the Hall of Fame after great professional careers.

What those three did in Indianapolis will never be forgotten. Three homegrown players that became all time greats and thrived with each other.

While it will be hard for Colts players to live up to the legacy of these triplets, many fans are hoping to recreate this trio in a way. Not just with a talented quarterback, running back, and receiver, but with three players with the same last names as the trio: Manning, Harrison, and James.

To be clear, fans are hoping that the Colts could somehow land Arch Manning, Peyton’s nephew, Marvin Harrison Jr, Marvin’s son, and Eden James, the son of Edgerrin.

All three are talented football players at the high school and college level and will be draft eligible in the coming years. Fans are trying to manifest their selections to Indy in consecutive drafts similar to how their elder relatives were.

Fans want the next generation of Manning, Harrison, and James on the Colts

Fitting enough, each player plays the same position as their relative from the last generation. Arch Manning is the quarterback, Marvin Harrison Jr. is the receiver, and Eden James is the running back.

Manning is the youngest and is still in high school, but he’s the consensus top-rated high school player in the 2023 class. At 6-foot-3, 204 pounds, Manning has the arm talent that is expected from someone who grows up in the Manning family. However, he also has a level of mobility that neither of his uncles possessed.

Manning has an offer from just about every school but hasn’t decided on a destination yet. If things pan out as expected, he will have a good college career and be one of the top picks when he enters the Draft.

The future is still open at quarterback in Indianapolis, so the Colts may actually be in play for Arch Manning in a few years.

Running back, however, isn’t so open, but fans would still love to see Eden James with Indy. James was a three-star running back in high school and had several FBS offers but chose to attend Howard University. He’ll play his first season with the Bison in the fall of 2022.

Marvin Harrison Jr. is the oldest of the three and will be the first the Colts can add. He is currently a wide receiver at Ohio State and entering his sophomore year after waiting his turn behind two talented receivers that went in the first round of this year’s Draft.

However, in his flashes of action, Harrison has shown enough for many to assume that he will be one of the top receivers in college football the next two seasons.

He’s 6-foot-3, 202 pounds, and is a really athletic quality route runner. In five games as a freshman, Harrison caught 11 passes for 139 yards and three touchdowns.

The majority of that production was in a Bowl game against Utah when Ohio State’s top receivers sat out. Harrison caught six passes that game for 71 yards and three touchdowns.

Receiver is definitely something the Colts are still looking for so they may be in the mix for Harrison in a couple of years. It would be a really great story if Indy actually did end up with all three players. Not only because of the legacy but because these are young talented players with really bright futures.

Maybe their futures will be with the Colts and they can help restore a feeling from the past.
