2. Isaiah Rodgers takes the leap to stardom
Before we dig into how great of a player Isaiah Rodgers is going to be, it needs to be noted that Rodgers has a lot of respect in my books.
Even as a rookie, Rodgers started to make an impact at the end of the season. From the moment he almost had his first career interception against Josh Allen, I knew he was going to be something special.
Rodgers was drafted to add more depth to the position and be a special teams player. He has emerged as a top, young corner in Indianapolis.
How much does Ballard respect Rodgers? He sent Rock Ya-Sin packing to upgrade another position on the defense instead. Why would he do this when they decided not to bring back Xavier Rhodes and some other veterans?
The addition of Stephon Gilmore does help, but Rodgers is going to be expected to be a starting corner. Kenny Moore is a slot corner and should not stay on the outside.
Rodgers is going to break career highs this season. He recorded just three interceptions as a backup corner and that number should double at a minimum.
Rodgers is going to start the season under the radar, but he’s going to emerge as one of the top corners in the league next to Gilmore.
