Michael Pittman Jr. will benefit from Colts’ draft

The third and final player is Michael Pittman Jr., another offensive player. That’s because Indy’s offense is what benefited the most in the 2022 NFL Draft.

The reason Pittman personally benefits from the addition of new weapons is that he should no longer be the lone receiving threat in the offense.

While it’s cool to be the No. 1 guy, it can be pretty limiting if you’re the only guy. The Colts did their part to ensure that doesn’t happen to Pittman.

Last year, Pittman’s second season in the NFL, was a breakout year for him. He caught 88 passes for 1,082 yards and six touchdowns, establishing himself as Indy’s No. 1 receiver.

While the plan for Pittman is to continue to develop and increase his production, his growth would’ve been limited if Indy didn’t add more pieces to the offense.

After Jonathan Taylor, Pittman would’ve been the only focus for opposing defenses in the passing game. That would’ve allowed teams to key in on shutting down Pittman.

Now, with Pierce opposite him and a handful of athletic tight ends, Pittman probably isn’t going to have to worry about getting all the defense’s attention.

This should give him space to continue to develop as an NFL receiver and to keep building his numbers.
