With the NFL Draft over and free agency nearing an end, there are still several high-profile players that would make a great addition to the Indianapolis Colts.

With many positions being taken care of in recent weeks, the Indianapolis Colts need to add additional support in a few positions. Depth is the major need for the Colts roster as we move closer to OTAs.

The interior offensive line and cornerback are some areas of concern in depth. Additionally, Indy could use a veteran wide receiver in a room that features Parris Campbell as the most veteran of the starting corp.

With roughly $13.5 million left in the salary cap, and rookies expecting to take $7 million of that, that leaves Indianapolis looking at some cheaper contracts to fill out the roster with veterans.

What the Colts do over the next few weeks will shape the roster for this fall when the season is in full stride. The remaining free agents that are signed won’t be starters on the roster but will be very key pieces to the depth of Indy’s roster.

Colts need to add IOL depth

One of the major holes left on the offensive line is the interior. Last year, Indy was so beat up that the team saw a wide range of players coming on and off the field. This should be an area of concern since the backup center is likely to take snaps at the right guard and no one is behind Quenton Nelson anymore.

Signing veterans like Trey Hopkins from the Cincinnati Bengals and Ereck Flowers from the Washington Commanders could be a small way to provide depth in a position needed.

Hopkins has recently seen the Super Bowl, not to his doing of course. He has seen a complete roster make it to where every team wants to be in February, though. Filling a much-needed role on the roster would be a great fit for him.

Flowers has bounced from team to team over the last few years and the Colts would be just his fourth team in eight years. Recently, Flowers was on a Commanders team that was ranked in the top five in pass protection.
