The 2022 NFL Draft is officially over and the Indianapolis Colts made a total of eight selections. Here’s a recap of Indy’s picks.

The Indianapolis Colts entered the 2022 NFL Draft with a list of needs and they were able to adequately address them. Despite not having a first-round pick, and trading further back into the Draft, Indy should be satisfied with the way things turned out.

The Colts made a heavy investment early on the offensive side of the ball, drafting three-straight offensive players. In total, the Colts selected four offensive players and four defensive players.

Overall, Indy got players that should be able to contribute now and also players that have the tools to develop into really good professionals.

Indianapolis will enter next season with big goals and hopefully, this Draft class will help Indy reach those goals.

Colts’ 2022 Draft picks

Alec Pierce, WR, Cincinnati, Round 2, Pick 53

Indy sat patiently in free agency and even at the start of the Draft but the team ultimately added another wide receiver to help improve the passing game. Alec Pierce is a big athletic body that can make tough catches downfield.

Jelani Woods, TE, Virginia, Round 3, Pick 73

Jelani Woods is one of the most athletic tight end prospects ever and he has great size. He’ll help the Colts improve the production at the tight end spot.

Bernhard Raimann, LT, Central Michigan, Round 3, Pick 77

Bernhard Raimann is a tight end turned left tackle and will have the chance to be Indianapolis’ long-term solution at the tackle position.

Nick Cross, S, Maryland, Round 3, Pick 96

Nick Cross broke the offensive streak that started the Draft for the Colts and he will add depth to a secondary that needs it.

Eric Johnson, DT, Missouri State, Round 5, Pick 159

Is it a Colts draft if Chris Ballard doesn’t take a defensive lineman? Indy selected Eric Johnson to add depth on the interior defensive line.

Andrew Ogletree, TE, Youngstown State, Round 6, Pick 192

With a lot of positions already addressed, Indianapolis used a late-round pick to double-dip at tight end. Like Woods, Andrew Ogletree is a big athletic tight end.

Curtis Brooks, DT, Cincinnati, Round 6, Pick 216

Another defensive lineman and another Cincinnati Bearcat. Curtis Brooks is a run-defending tackle and the latest piece of Ballard’s mission to add defensive line depth.

Rodney Thomas II, DB, Yale, Round 7, Pick 239

Rodney Thomas II was Indy’s last selection of the 2022 NFL Draft and he’ll come from the Ivy League to help provide depth in the secondary.
