Colts want depth on the defensive line
Indianapolis has struggled to generate a consistent pass rush the last few seasons and that was evident in the team’s moves over the past year.
Indy selected pass rushers with its first two picks in last year’s Draft and traded for Yannick Ngakoue this offseason. They should be set from a starter standpoint but Ballard has emphasized that a pass rush is best when it has depth.
He has expressed that he would like for the Colts to have at least eight defensive linemen that can all play at a high level and that would explain why they met with 11 defensive linemen.
