Colts draft T Zach Tom in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft

Wake Forest’s offensive tackle, Zach Tom, has been a hard player to evaluate for many analysts coming into the Draft. In 2019, Tom played mostly at center. However, since 2020, he has played all but seven of his snaps at left tackle.

There are some concerns for Zach Tom coming into the NFL draft. Many scouts believe he should kick back inside in the NFL due to some length and strength concerns. However, he had the highest pass-blocking grade in all of FBS last year.

Zach Tom’s pass-blocking along with his mirroring ability should give him the ability to play left tackle in the NFL, despite some analysts’ concerns.

With the Colts already drafting an offensive weapon in the second round of this mock draft, Indy should look to protect Matt Ryan in the third round. As of now, Matt Pryor will be the day-one starter for Indianapolis at left tackle.

The team needs more depth at tackle and at this point in the draft, Zach Tom would be the best possible option. Although there are some concerns for Tom, there is something to be said for the versatility he would bring to the depth chart. He is a player that would add to the depth of the entire offensive line.
