Fans of the Indianapolis Colts are hoping the team can somehow bring young receiver, Terry McLaurin, back to Indianapolis.

This NFL offseason has been highlighted by wide receiver movement. Names like Davante Adams, Tyreek Hill, and Amari Cooper have all been traded to new teams.

Just when it seemed as if things would settle down, more wide receiver drama surfaced for the league to discuss. This time, it’s from a group of young wideouts who are ready for their second contract.

AJ Brown from the Titans, Terry McLaurin from Washington, and Deebo Samuel from the 49ers have all been in the headlines this week. All three are seeking new contracts and Samuel has requested a trade.

This led many Indianapolis Colts fans down a path of imagining Deebo with Indy. However, some fans went a different direction and thought about the possibility of Indy trading for Terry McLaurin.

Terry McLaurin would be a nice addition to the Colts

McLaurin was born and raised in Indianapolis and played high school football at Cathedral High school. He was named Indiana’s Mr. Football in 2013 before attending college at Ohio State.

After a successful career in Columbus, McLaurin declared for the 2019 Draft, a Draft where the Colts had three chances to select him before he went to Washington in the third round.

Indianapolis instead selected Rock Ya-Sin, Ben Banogu, and McLaurin’s college teammate, Parris Campbell. At the time, that was the right decision because Campbell had a better collegiate career.

However, Campbell has unfortunately struggled to stay healthy as a pro and McLaurin has become one of the best young receivers in the NFL.

In three seasons with Washington, McLaurin has played in 46 games and caught 222 passes for 3,090 yards and 16 touchdowns. He has also established himself as a leader, being named a captain for the Commanders.

That’s why, despite his demands for a new contract, McLaurin is attending Washington’s offseason program but he isn’t participating in on-field workouts.

It’s evident that he has a good relationship with Washington and has a valued presence and that’s why it’s unlikely the Colts will be able to acquire him.

It doesn’t seem like Washington or Terry McLaurin is ready to part ways with each other. So while it’s nice to dream about McLaurin coming home, that’s all it will be, for now, a dream.
