2. Miami Dolphins tight end Mike Gesicki – 2018 Draft

Another position Indy could select at No. 42 is tight end. They have already met with several tight end prospects so it’s evident that position is a priority.

If the Colts could end up with a tight end the caliber of Miami’s Mike Gesicki, the offense would immediately benefit.

Gesicki was drafted by the Dolphins in 2018 and played in 16 games as a rookie, starting seven. He was productive in his first year, but he made significant improvements in each season.

In his rookie year, Gesicki caught 22 passes for 202 yards. In year two, he caught 51 passes for 570 yards. Those numbers improved to 53 receptions for 703 yards in year three and 73 catches for 780 yards in year four.

In addition to his yards, Gesicki caught 13 touchdowns in his career. That’s why he would’ve been one of the most coveted tight ends in free agency if Miami didn’t franchise tag him.

Gesicki will enter free agency next offseason if he is unable to agree on a long-term deal with the Dolphins. He could be a future target for the Colts unless they find a quality tight end in this year’s Draft.
