The Indianapolis Colts recently held a private workout for 2022 NFL draft prospect Isaiah Likely, as Indy continues to scout tight ends.

The Indianapolis Colts are making clear their intention to draft a tight end as they have spent a lot of time in the pre-draft process getting familiar with the tight ends in the 2022 class.

The most recent tight end that Indianapolis has been getting to know is Isaiah Likely from Coastal Carolina. Ryan Roberts reported that Likely has met with several teams and has had a private workout with the Colts.

Likely is a 6’4, 245-pound tight end that played four years at Coastal Carolina and could soon be a member of the Colts.

Coming out of high school, Likely had the option to play wide receiver and that is evident in his college tape. He’s a smaller tight end that runs well, makes athletic plays, and is filled with big-play potential.

During his time at Coastal Carolina, Likely played in 48 games and caught 133 passes for 2,050 yards and 27 touchdowns. Over the last two seasons, he’s had the most receiving yards of any tight end in college.

His athleticism and receiving ability make him an intriguing prospect for many teams in the league. With the direction the NFL is moving, Likely is the perfect tight end to help open up an offense.

That’s what the Colts are looking for. With just Mo Alie-Cox and Kylen Granson on the roster, Indy’s tight end group doesn’t have the talent or depth that it desires yet.

Improving the tight end position will not only make things easier for Matt Ryan but it will elevate the entire offense. That is why Indianapolis has been spending so much time with tight ends leading up to the draft.

It’s safe to assume the Colts will draft one of these tight ends and hopefully, it will be the one that can immediately contribute to winning.
