Former Indianapolis Colts quarterback, Carson Wentz, appears to be talking about his former team in his latest Instagram caption.
The relationship between Carson Wentz and the Indianapolis Colts ended after just one season together. Wentz was traded to the Washington Commanders and Indianapolis acquired Matt Ryan.
Following the split, both Wentz and members of the Indianapolis organization have spoken about the past year and things have been mostly amicable.
That changed a bit after Colts’ owner, Jim Irsay, shared some remarks about Carson Wentz at the NFL owners’ meeting that many felt was a shot at Washington’s new quarterback.
Wentz doesn’t really publicly respond to much of the criticism that comes his way but he may have found a way to show everyone that he hears what’s being said.
In Wentz’s latest Instagram post, a sponsored post for Bobcat Company, Wentz is pictured driving a tractor and captioned the post, “Building a higher road.”
Carson Wentz is taking the high road with Colts
Many assumed Carson’s words were in response to Irsay’s comments and was Wentz’s way to say despite what’s being said following the split he is going to take the high road.
As for what Irsay actually said, it was a lot, but it wasn’t anything that hadn’t already been reported, it was just coming straight from Jim Irsay’s mouth.
Irsay referred to the Wentz era as a “mistake” that had to be corrected. He explained how the fit just wasn’t right for everyone involved, not only on the field but in the locker room as well.
Ultimately, Irsay and Indianapolis got what they wanted. The Colts were able to move Carson Wentz and pick up a quarterback in Matt Ryan that they are excited to have.
Wentz also comes away from the deal in pretty good shape. He was able to join a team in the Commanders where he was wanted and will be the starting quarterback.
It’s also great that Wentz decided to take the high road because there’s really no need for a back-and-forth after both parties have moved on.
Of course, Wentz, Chris Ballard, Frank Reich, and Jim Irsay, were all going to have to answer awkward questions in their first public appearances, but now, that is done. It’s time to officially close the door on that chapter as everyone moves in their new directions.
