Colts could draft Roger McCreary

Roger McCreary isn’t a guy Indianapolis should be able to get in the third round. If Indy selects him, it will have to be in the second with the team’s first selection at No. 42 overall.

That’s because McCreary is a first-round talent that may slip into the second round. He’s not ranked as the top corner in this class but he is definitely on the top tier and his tape proves it.

McCreary is 5’11, 190 pounds, and coincidentally has a similar play style to Rock Ya-Sin. He’s a physical cornerback that thrives in press-man situations and can occasionally be a bit handsy.

He also plays with an edge and competitiveness that you want from a cornerback. Throughout his time at Auburn, McCreary would step up to any challenge, often making plays and letting the fans hear about it.

McCreary still has room to develop and may go through similar growing pains that Ya-Sin did in his first two years with the Colts but he has immediate starting potential.

He would be a great addition to Indianapolis’ defense but his selection may come at the cost of selecting one of the talented receivers in the second round.

Indy needs receivers as well, so if McCreary is on the board when they select at 42, they will have to decide which need has priority along with what position can be answered later in the draft.
