Matt Ryan could be option for Colts

Matt Ryan, at 36 years old, is on the tail end of his career and he could possibly be moved from the team that he has spent his 14-year career with.

That’s the business of the NFL.

The Atlanta Falcons are scheduled to meet with Watson, who is a Georgia native, on Wednesday. If Watson chooses the Falcons, they will have to move on from Ryan.

Ryan started all 17 games for Atlanta last season and completed 67% of his passes for 3,968 yards and 20 touchdowns to 12 interceptions. That was Ryan’s first year under 4,000 passing yards in 10 seasons.

Ryan is still a productive quarterback and can be similar to a Philip Rivers acquisition for Indianapolis. He isn’t going to be the QB of the future but he can provide solid play for a few more seasons.

The Colts could acquire Ryan, sign some guys, and have a nice draft and that would set them up for a productive season. If Indy can provide the talent, Ryan still has the arm to work with it.

This option won’t be a long-term solution for Indy but Ryan can keep them competitive for the next few seasons.
