Playmakers from the Combine that jumped up the Colts draft board
By Brad Marr
These versatile blocking receivers kicked off the scouting Combine in excellent fashion.
TE Daniel Bellinger – San Diego State
6’5, 253 pounds.
4.62 40-Yard Dash | 22 Bench Press reps | 34.5 inch vertical
A bold mixture of strength and speed, the former Aztec made the Combine his empire with his on-field performance. Most notably known for his blocking ability in run plays, he’s quick to get to the next level on screens as well. His sure handedness adds a similar feat to what Indy is losing with the retirement of Jack Doyle.
TE Jelani Woods – Virginia
6’7, 259 pounds.
4.61 40-Yard Dash | 24 Bench Press Reps
Jelani Woods spent time at the East West Shrine Game with current Colts OC Marcus Brady. Linking the two together could be premature but you can’t overlook a guy who set the standard on the bench with 24 reps. His size and playstyle compares to that of Mo Alie-Cox, a guy who might not be back with Indianapolis for 2022.

TE Jake Ferguson – Wisconsin
6’5, 250 pounds.
4.80 40-Yard Dash | 15 Bench Press Reps | 31.5 inch vertical
After taking a step back on the inconsistent offense at Wisconsin, Ferguson still put up consistent receiving numbers. Although his Combine numbers were subpar at best, he still fits the mold as a reliable NFL tight end and could find his availability on day three in the draft, providing solid depth to the Colts, who at this pace will only have Kylen Granson on the roster at the position.
