Cam Robinson tagged by the Jacksonville Jaguars

It’s official, Cam Robinson will remain in Jacksonville in 2022. It was reported that the Jaguars could use their first-overall pick in this year’s draft on one of the top offensive tackles. With this tag, it’s likely they will select Aiden Hutchinson with the first pick now.

Robinson would have been a force the Colts needed to add to their offensive line. He was one of two young left tackles on the market this year that would have upgraded a position that lacked last season.

The five-year veteran will only be 27 this season and could have been signed to a four-year deal worth $67.3 million keeping him under contract until he was 31.

Another one bites the dust

Not only did the Colts lose out on Robinson, but they lost the chance at signing Orlando Brown Jr. after the Kansas City Cheifs tagged Brown.

The move makes sense, though. The Chiefs are not looking at a top pick to get one of the few really talented offensive tackles in the draft. They also just traded for Brown a season ago.

Brown is expected to make about $16.7 million this year, which will put Kansas City in a bind in what they are capable of doing in free agency this year. However, that is still cheaper than what he could have made by hitting the open market.

Spotrac has Brown’s market value at $23.3 million and he should have signed a five-year, $116.58 million contract this offseason. Luckily, he’s only 25 years old and a one-year franchise tag shouldn’t lose his chance at a massive payday in the future.
