Teddy Bridgewater is an option for Colts

If you omit Teddy Bridgewater’s 2020 season with the struggling Carolina Panthers, in the last three seasons, his teams are 12-7 when he starts.

That includes a 5-0 stint with the New Orleans Saints in 2019 and a 7-7 record with the Denver Broncos in 2021. Both the Saints and Broncos were talented teams and that’s why Bridgewater was able to keep them afloat.

The Indianapolis Colts are also a talented team. Indy has a good defense, a great running game, and a ton of money and picks to add weapons.

Adding Bridgewater to that combination gives Indy the chance to be competitive.

Bridgewater is only 29, but he isn’t going to be the quarterback of the future. However, he can step in and keep a competent team competitive until they find their quarterback of the future.

Bridgewater is an effective game manager. He protects the football and knows how to avoid the costly mistakes that will lose a game.

With the Saints, he threw nine touchdowns and two interceptions in five games. Through 14 games in Denver, Bridgewater threw 18 touchdowns and just seven interceptions.

While Bridgewater won’t often lose games, it’s also unlikely that he delivers a Herculean effort that will win games. If the Colts want a season that isn’t a complete disaster, they could sign Bridgewater and remain somewhat competitive.
