Colts can target CJ Uzomah

A tight end that gained a lot of fans this past season was Cincinnati Bengals tight end CJ Uzomah. He gave fans and media entertainment, toughness, and quality football.

Uzomah has been with the Bengals since getting drafted by Cincinnati in 2015. However, his career got off to a slow start as he was a reserve tight end behind veteran Tyler Eifert.

Uzomah finally got the starting job in 2018 and immediately impressed with 43 receptions for 439 yards and three touchdowns. The breakout season earned him a three-year extension in Cincinnati.

Three seasons, a torn Achilles, and a Super Bowl appearance later, that extension is set to expire and Uzomah will hit the market as a coveted tight end.

He would be a great fit for the Colts but it will be hard to pry Uzomah away from Cincinnati. He has already re-signed once and has been open about his love for the city.

Additionally, with the Bengals being such a young team and making the Super Bowl, it’s safe to assume that many will buy into returning and trying to go back to win the whole thing.

While that all seems likely, nothing is guaranteed. Uzomah hasn’t signed an extension yet and if he is willing to listen to other teams, Indy should put its bid in.
