Colts can target Zach Ertz

After all the noise surrounding Indianapolis’ quarterback position, there’s a good chance that Carson Wentz will return as the starter. If that happens, Indy could at least bring him a familiar weapon.

That weapon is tight end Zach Ertz. Wentz and Ertz played together for the Philadelphia Eagles for the five seasons that Wentz was in Philly.

During that time, Ertz was one of the best tight ends in the NFL, going to three straight Pro Bowls from 2017 to 2019. Through all of the ups and downs in Philly, Wentz and Ertz had a consistent connection.

Wentz was eventually traded to the Colts and Ertz was ultimately traded to the Arizona Cardinals last season. In his time with Philadelphia and Arizona last year, Ertz proved to still be a productive tight end, catching 74 passes for 763 yards and five touchdowns.

That’s a level of production at the tight end position that Indianapolis has been missing. If Indy can land Ertz, it will help improve the passing game and help Carson Wentz be more comfortable as he reunites with his former go-to target.
