Eric Fisher doesn’t deserve another season with Colts

Eric Fisher is another player that Indy signed last offseason to address a major issue, left tackle, and things didn’t pan out like everyone hoped.

Now, just a year later, Indianapolis still has the same problem at left tackle and is looking for a player that can consistently deliver quality pass protection.

Fisher, a former No. 1 overall pick, entered the 2021 season recovering from a torn Achilles. Once he made it to the field healthy, he offered some good and some bad.

Fisher was one of the best run-blocking linemen in the NFL and was a big part of the Colts rushing attack. With Fisher’s run-blocking prowess, Jonathan Taylor was able to have the special season that he did.

Where Fisher struggled most was in pass protection. The left tackle position is critical in protecting the quarterback from what he can’t see. Without good pass protection, whoever the Colts have at quarterback will always struggle in some aspects.

Indianapolis needs to find a left tackle that isn’t a liability in pass protection. With the options on the free agent market, there isn’t a reason that Fisher should return to Indianapolis.
