Andrew Sendejo doesn’t deserve another season with Colts

Andrew Sendejo played 12 games with Indianapolis last season and it’s extremely likely that he won’t play another one in a Colts uniform.

Of those 12 games, Sendejo started 10, and they were all out of necessity. Indy entered 2021 with a lack of depth at the safety position and an injury to starter, Julian Blackmon, didn’t help either.

Following Blackmon’s injury, Sendejo was placed into the starting lineup and he ultimately had an underwhelming season with Indianapolis.

In his 12 games with the Colts, Sendejo recorded just 40 tackles and two pass deflections. He delivered a few big hits but Sendejo often struggled in coverage and occasionally missed tackles.

Now that his one-year contract with Indy is set to expire, there isn’t a good enough reason for Indianapolis to bring him back.

Julian Blackmon is already progressing back from his Achilles injury and the Colts will be in a position to draft quality safeties in the mid to late rounds.

Expect Indy to move on from Sendejo this offseason and still be able to build depth at the safety position.
