Mapping out the perfect offseason for the Colts

Colts find a receiver that fits in perfectly
While Michael Pittman Jr. provided quality receiving numbers in 2021 for Indy, the team has to find someone opposite of him that can contribute.
T.Y. Hilton is considering retirement after a less than mediocre season that was clustered with multiple injuries. It’s time to cut ties and move on from the former deep threat wide receiver.
There are a ton of potential candidates to peek at this year as Ghost replacements, but one sticks out to me. His season ended abruptly because of an ACL injury; however, the advancements of sports medicine have shown this isn’t the career-ender it once was made out to be. You might be catching on by now, that wide receiver is Michael Gallup.
I mean honestly, his name perfectly fits the Colts’ identity.
Picture this, the announcers on their feet at a Lucas Oil-hosted prime time game, “Carson Wentz delivers a pass to Gallup, he makes the catch, up the sideline as he {gallops} into the endzone for the game-winning touchdown! The Colts Win! The Colts Win!”
Many dominos must fall into place for this one though, and that means Dallas has to make a decision on Amari Cooper, and the rest of their corps for the future. But it’s likely we’ll see Gallup in a new system next season.
Insightfully, Wentz and Cowboys’ QB Dak Prescott have an off-the-field friendship that could sway Gallup’s decision to join the Colts.
Gallup isn’t exactly a big-time No. 1 receiver, but his downfield speed, play-making ability, and winning mentality would immediately bolster the Colts’ receiver room, He’d be a great complement to the bigger-bodied Pittman.
Tight end – QB reunion
Jack Doyle is another player joining the retirement discussion, and Mo Allie-Cox is a pending free agent. This leaves the future at tight end in the hands of 2021 third-round draft pick, Kylen Granson. Don’t get me wrong the kid has great potential, but another Philadelphia reunion makes too much sense here.
If the Arizona Cardinals and Zach Ertz don’t agree to an extension, Ertz should undoubtedly sign with the Colts. Before Michael Pittman eclipsed the 1000-yard mark, Ertz was the only pass-catcher Wentz has ever had that hit those numbers.
Surrounding the QB with a familiar face in a familiar offense would be prime to take the next step. Especially, if Indy is approaching 2022 with an “ALL-IN” mentality.
