The Indianapolis Colts will have several free agents they hope to bring back but which do they need to re-sign the most?

With the arrival of the offseason, the conversation for the Indianapolis Colts will be who is playing quarterback next season and what big-name players can be acquired.

While those are important questions, Indy will have some other things it will have to handle this offseason. That’s working on keeping some of the pending free agents.

Indianapolis has 28 players set to enter free agency. Some of them, Indy is probably happy to let go, but others, are critical pieces of the team and it would be beneficial if they returned next season.

The business of football has shown us that Indy won’t be able to keep everyone, so who should be the highest priority? Which free agent do the Colts need to re-sign most?

According to Gil Brandt, the player Indy needs to return most is guard, Mark Glowinski. It’s hard to argue that.

Mark Glowinski named player Colts must keep

Glowinski has been in Indianapolis since being claimed off waivers in 2017. During his four years in Indy, he has started 55-of-59 games at right guard.

He’s been an instrumental piece in the Colts offense, especially the run game. As Brandt highlights in his article, Glowinski received a top-20 grade from PFF for his run-blocking in 2021.

No matter what quarterback is taking snaps for Indy next year or what elite receiver the team signs, the identity of this offense will remain with Jonathan Taylor, the linemen, and the run game.

The rushing attack is the strength of this team and it’s one of the best in the entire league. With all the possible moving parts this offseason, Indy must make sure to not compromise what it already does well.

So as the topic shifts from Carson Wentz to receiving targets to the NFL Draft, Chris Ballard and Indianapolis must make sure that Mark Glowinski is still in a Colts uniform next season.
