The Indianapolis Colts will have a lot of options in the draft and free agency to upgrade at wide receiver.

Entering the offseason, one of the Indianapolis Colts’ biggest focuses should be the wide receiver position. The future of Carson Wentz will get all the noise, but whoever is throwing the ball will need better weapons than what Indy has.

Luckily, it’s a good time to need receivers in the NFL. Between free agency and the NFL Draft, there will be a ton of dynamic receivers joining new teams.

If the Colts are aggressive, they could possibly land a big-name veteran in free agency and grab a young talent in the draft. Either way, Indy shouldn’t return with the same receiver group.

Even if Indianapolis can’t land the biggest names, there are other options the Colts can sign that would be an upgrade. One, in particular, is veteran receiver, Christian Kirk.

Colts could go after Christian Kirk in free agency

In a recent Bleacher Report article, they highlighted the biggest need for every team entering the offseason. For Indy, it was wide receiver, and the writer, Maurice Moton, felt Kirk could be a good fit in Indianapolis.

Although eyes usually gravitate to the bigger names on the market like Chris Godwin or Allen Robinson, Kirk also could be a valuable pickup.

Kirk entered the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals in 2018 and has consistently improved each season. Last season, the final year of his rookie contract, Kirk had a career year, catching 77 passes for 982 yards and five touchdowns.

He can bring something to the Colts that they have missed the last few seasons: a big-play receiver. While he isn’t the biggest name on the market, he would comfortably be the second-best receiver in Indy.

The Colts should take swings at all of the biggest receivers available, but if they are unable to land the top guys, they’d be lucky to pick up a player like Kirk in the offseason.
