Indianapolis Colts quarterback, Carson Wentz, finally received public words of support from someone within the organization.

Since the Indianapolis Colts season ended, quarterback rumors have swirled around the team. While that might have happened anyway with the way the season ended, members of the Colts organization fueled the fire.

In Frank Reich’s end-of-season presser, he wouldn’t commit to Carson Wentz as the starter for next season. Chris Ballard wouldn’t either, only saying that at the time of the Wentz trade, he thought it was the right move.

Then it was Indianapolis’ owner, Jim Irsay, who made some tweets that alluded to a possible quarterback change. Irsay also may have liked a tweet discussing possible upgrades over Wentz, but so did some of Indy’s players.

With the head coach, general manager, owner, and teammates all hinting at wanting to move on from Wentz, it seemed as if there wasn’t anyone in the organization who would give Wentz a public vote of confidence.

That all changed on Wednesday when Jonathan Taylor was asked in an interview if he thought Carson Wentz would be back or not.

Jonathan Taylor would love for Carson Wentz to remain with Colts

This had to be somewhat of an awkward situation for Taylor. He couldn’t just come out and say he doesn’t want Wentz back, or that would’ve caused a lot of drama in Indianapolis.

However, the answer Taylor gave did seem genuine and he offered more than what was asked. He could’ve said no comment or that’s a decision for the front office, but instead, he took the time to praise Wentz.

He expressed how much he loves him as a player and a person and even highlighted the things he does well on the field. It was probably the nicest thing said about Wentz publicly since the Jacksonville Jaguars game.

It will probably be a discussion about the honesty of Taylor’s words; he isn’t the kind of player that would put down a teammate. Some might feel what he said is genuine, others might think he was just saying the right things to the media.

Either way, Taylor’s true feelings probably don’t matter because he isn’t one of the team’s decision-makers. Irsay, Ballard, and Reich haven’t expressed confidence in Wentz and that’s what will matter if other quarterbacks become available.
