Colts draft DL Keyshawn James in the seventh round

Indianapolis wants to improve its defensive line play. There are some veterans that will be available in free agency but Indy could also land a great young player in the draft.

One of those players is 6-foot-3, 280-pound, Keyshawn James, out of Fayetteville State.

In four years at Fayetteville State, James played in 40 games, recording 228 tackles, 60.5 tackles for loss, 29.5 sacks, and 11 forced fumbles.

With Xavier Rhodes likely leaving Indianapolis, Indy may use a late-round pick on a corner. The team has other young corners on the roster, so whoever is selected will be for depth.

Jermaine Waller from Virginia Tech has shown promise at corner, playing 30 games in college and recording seven interceptions.

If he makes the roster he can be an immediate special teams contributor and could also earn defensive playing time in camp.

Colts draft DT Noah Ellis in the seventh round

Indianapolis finishes the draft with one last attempt to bolster the defensive line, drafting defensive tackle, Noah Ellis, from Idaho.

Ellis is 6-foot-4, 360 pounds, and another late selection who would have the opportunity to compete for a roster spot and playing time.

At Idaho, Ellis had 93 tackles, 10 for loss, and three sacks, in 21 games.

If the Colts are able to land Ellis, along with these other seven prospects, it would be a successful draft and they would field a better team next season.
