Stop saying next year Colts edge rushers will be better

Is anyone tired of saying “it’s prove-it time” when it comes to Tyquan Lewis, Ben Banogu, and Kemoko Turay? The three have had every chance to finally get healthy and start making a difference. It’s time to move on from the three EDGE rushers.

In the 2021 NFL Draft, Ballard selected Kwity Paye in the first round and Dayo Odeyingbo in the second round. Paye excelled immediately, becoming a day-one starter and impacting games.

Even with Odeyingbo coming off a serious injury that should have had him sidelined all year, he eventually played and outperformed Lewis and Banogu, slightly.

The Colts could be happy with what they have in the new guys, but they need a solid veteran leader at this position. Someone that is going to take looks and double-teams on DeForest Buckner.

In free agency, the Colts should look at bringing in either veteran Dante Fowler Jr or Anthony Barr. To follow up that, in the draft, look at Penn State EDGE Jesse Luketa.
