2. Colts defeat Chiefs 23-8 in 2007 Wild Card game

This was the first playoff game for the 2006 season, and all Indianapolis fans know what happened that year.

This game wasn’t an offensive showcase like the last game on the list, but Adam Vinatieri and the defense had standout performances that propelled Indy to victory.

The first three scores of this game were all Vinatieri field goals. It wasn’t until the third quarter when Joseph Addai ran in the Colts first touchdown.

Indy’s defense was stout all game, allowing the only points in the closing minute of the third quarter. The defense found a way to contain Tony Gonzalez and forced Trent Green into two interceptions.

While the win was great, it was what the win led to that made this Wild Card game so memorable. Indianapolis would go on to finally get past the New England Patriots in the AFC and complete a successful season, winning the Super Bowl over the Chicago Bears.

That was the franchise’s second Super Bowl, and the first since the team relocated to Indianapolis. Prior to that season, the Colts hadn’t won a Super Bowl since 1970, when they were still based out of Baltimore.
