Purdue. 2. player. 848. Scouting Report. WR. DavidBell. Pick Analysis

Bell coming to the Colts would be a nice homecoming story, as the Indianapolis native and Warren Central alum would’ve stayed in the state of Indiana for three straight levels of football. Even if Bell played his college football in Alaska, he has traits that are worth developing for the Colts.

Bell recorded just under 1,300 yards and six touchdowns for the Boilermakers this year, as his blend of impressive in-air control, soft hands, and physicality on the edge made it tough for the best Big Ten corners to corral him. Even with a revolving door at quarterback, Bell was making plays.

The Colts could add a solid possession receiver in David Bell.

Bell is as physical as they come, but he lacks elite speed, which could be a problem in the pros. Furthermore, would adding Bell to a receiver room that also includes bigger X receivers like Pittman, Mike Strachan, and Dezmon Patmon make a ton of sense for Ballard?

With 200-yard days against Iowa and Michigan State, Bell has produced against his biggest opponents. If the Colts are convinced by Bell’s ability to separate on shorter routes and make plays as a ball-carrier, they could keep the Indianapolis product in his home state by taking him on Day 2.
