George Odum will make or break Colts playoff run

In Indianapolis’ Week 11 win over the Buffalo Bills, safety George Odum recorded the second interception of his career. His pick was one of the early plays that started the party in the blowout victory for Indy.

That was a high-point of his season, the rest hasn’t been as special. Odum has had some good moments but he has also struggled in coverage in the middle of the field.

Those struggles were really on display in the loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Odum was often tasked with covering Rob Gronkowski and he struggled to do so. In the game against Tampa, Odum was targeted five times and gave up four catches for 65 yards.

On the season, Odum has been targeted 19 times, allowing 15 receptions for 233 yards. There is obvious room for Odum to continue developing in his pass coverage.

He will need to if Indy wants any real chance of making noise in the playoffs. The AFC has plenty of pass-heavy teams who will attack the middle of the field, so Odum must be prepared to respond.

He may have the opportunity to face off against another elite tight end in Darren Waller when the Colts take on the Raiders in Week 17. That will be a great test run for Odum as Indianapolis readies for a playoff run.
