2. The Colts must protect the ball to avoid upset

In Week 12, Indianapolis could have pulled off an upset if they didn’t commit five turnovers. Now, the shoe is on the other foot, and they must avoid turning the ball over to ensure they win this game against Houston.

In Week 11, when the Texans got their second win, it was over the Tennessee Titans, who were the top team in the AFC at the time. The reason Houston was able to upset Tennessee is because the Titans turned the ball over five times.

Teams as bad as Houston rarely just outplay opponents; that’s why they have the record they do. When they win, it’s because the opposing team helps them out. The Colts can’t do that on Sunday.

It’s easy for teams to let their guard down against struggling teams, and that’s how costly mistakes happen. Indianapolis must be intentional about protecting the football on offense and special teams. All a subpar team needs is for their opponent to slip up just a little … and then it’s a game. For Indy to dominate Houston, they will have to take care of the football.
