1. Colts players trending up: Carson Wentz

Carson Wentz is in the midst of his best year since his Pro Bowl season in 2017. His production isn’t necessarily jumping off the stat sheet, but he’s been doing nearly everything asked of him to help Indianapolis win games.

His last outing should serve as the most promising yet for Colts fans.  Yes, he was strip-sacked and intercepted twice, but with context, he had a great game. With the knowledge that Jonathan Taylor is the engine of this offense, Wentz showed that he can excel when all eyes are on the run game.

Wentz finished the game against Tampa Bay completing 61% of his passes for 306 yards, three touchdowns, 21 rushing yards and a ton of dimes.

It’s important to know that Wentz can carry the load if Taylor is being bottled up. Teams are definitely going to key in on the Indianapolis run game moving forward, so if the offensive line is unable to carve out lanes, Wentz must be prepared to beat teams with his arm.

The direction of his play should gives fans plenty of comfort that Carson Wentz will be ready to either hand the ball off 30 times or drop back and pass 40 times. If Indianapolis can win doing either of those, they’ll be one of the most dangerous teams in the NFL.
