How Colts can win against the New England Patriots: Stay calm down the stretch

The Patriots’ season has gone a lot like the Colts. After starting 1-3, they have won five of their last six and are currently 6-4. Also like Indianapolis, they lost a couple of close games early against really good teams.

As of late, this young team is finding its identity. On a four-game winning streak, they are averaging 37.5 points a game while only allowing 12.5, and look to keep it up in the three games prior to facing the Colts.

In Week 15, the Patriots travel to Indianapolis for their game against the Colts. The path to victory for Indianapolis will be limiting mistakes in the clutch. These are two young teams that have dropped competitive contests due to costly mistakes down the stretch, and it’s likely that’s how the Week 15 matchup plays out.

Three of New England’s losses were in one-possession games, and in all three of those games, the Patriots either had a fourth quarter turnover or missed a field goal in the waning minutes. This is an issue that also plagues the Colts, so this game will come down to which team flinches first. If Indianapolis can avoid disaster longer than New England can, the Colts will pull off an impressive victory.
