The Indianapolis Colts are going to be compared to the Philadelphia Eagles for all of 2021 and the foreseeable future.
While the Carson Wentz blockbuster will consume the majority of that discourse, it’s important to remember that the Eagles hired Nick Sirianni, the Colts’ former offensive coordinator, to be their new head coach … while he was on vacation with his family during the offseason.
It was a classless move, though we know better than to expect more from that organization at this point, right?
If we know one thing about Sirianni — other than that the jury is still out on him as the Eagles’ head coach — it’s that he isn’t swift in front of the microphone.
If you remember, his introductory news conference was a train wreck, so this latest slip-up shouldn’t come as a surprise.
While trying to explain the Eagles’ 2-5 start, Sirianni offered up one of the most ridiculous analogies we’ve ever heard from a head coach.

Former Colts OC Nick Sirianni’s analogy for the Eagles is laughable.
Really, Sirianni? The old flower and roots analogy?
We hate to come down too hard on Sirianni, who did great work pulling the strings of the Colts’ offense from 2018 to 2020. However, this is just sad. Does he know what kind of city and fan base he’s addressing with these comments?
The city of Philadelphia and Eagles fans have no time for middle school analogies. They expect results, or at least progress, in a rebuild year, not the team’s head coach trying to sugarcoat what’s been a putrid start to the season.
We didn’t know Sirianni was a botanist in a past life. It’s quotes like these that lead the media and fans to believe a HC isn’t fit for the job.
Sure enough, Joe Giglio, the evening host for 94 WIP-FM in Philadelphia, just published an article titled “Nick Sirianni looks like one-and-done Eagles coach.” Given Giglio’s influence amongst the fan base, this idea could gain some traction.

Giglio makes some salient points. If your team regularly looks unprepared on Sundays, at least have the decency to hold yourself and your players accountable. Pretending like everything is sunshine and rainbows when owner Jeff Lurie and GM Howie Roseman have a cutthroat mentality when it comes to pulling the plug on head coaches was a real empty-headed move on Siranni’s part.
It’s too early to say whether Sirianni will last beyond the 2021 season, but a loss against the winless Lions this weekend might seal his fate after he embarrassed himself (yet again) in front of the media on Wednesday.

Colts: Nick Sirianni is getting roasted after his introductory press conference with Eagles
Social media is absolutely roasting former Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni for his introductory presser with the Philadelphia Eagles.
