It took longer than expected, but the Indianapolis Colts ultimately pulled away from the Houston Texans en route to a 31-3 win on Sunday.

It was the kind of performance fans have been waiting for, especially from the defense, which generated three turnovers — two that came courtesy of Darius Leonard — and limited Houston to 353 yards of total offense.

In terms of the offense, Jonathan Taylor led the way 145 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He still needs to see more touches.

Carson Wentz, meanwhile, continued his brilliant start to the year, racking up 223 yards and two scores through the air on just 11 completions.

Fans truly couldn’t have asked for a better performance. However, they were treated to something even better before the game.

As the Colts took the field out of the locker room, Wentz located die-hard Eagles fan and longtime friend Giovanni Hamilton. The Colts QB gifted Hamilton a signed football and the duo exchanged a big hug before Wentz went to warm up.

Colts QB Carson Wentz finally reunited with Giovanni Hamilton on Sunday.

Finally!

Hamilton was understandably devastated when Wentz was traded from the Eagles to Indianapolis. After all, Wentz is his favorite player and the reason he started watching football.

Shortly after the trade, Wentz surprised Hamilton during a Zoom call and promised he’d fly him out to Lucas Oil Stadium for a game this season.

Wentz and Hamilton first met at an Eagles practice in 2019, and they’ve shared a special bond ever since. Hamilton called it “the best day of [his] life.”

“I just had a connection with him because of his injury in his knee and the way he’s overcome it,” said Hamilton. “Because, my life, I’ve had 17 surgeries, it hasn’t been the easiest. But seeing a football player, a  tough person, go through all this, it really helps me through stuff, to see that he overcame it so I can, too.”

Something tells us Sunday will give that 2019 practice a run for its money as one of Hamilton’s favorite days ever.

On top of reuniting with Wentz before kickoff, Hamilton got to meet Frank Reich. Even Leonard himself and Kenny Moore stopped by to say hello during warmups!

As if this day couldn’t get any more awesome for Hamilton, he got to realize another longtime dream by getting pied in the face by Blue, the Colts’ official mascot. Check this out.

“I’ve never had so much fun in my life.”

This is what it’s all about. Credit to Wentz and the entire Colts organization for giving Hamilton a day he will never forget.

On a side note, Wentz might want to fly him out for more games this season, because Indy played its best game of the season with him in attendance!
