Can the Indianapolis Colts go one week — hell, one day! — without earth-shattering injuries affecting their roster? The one bit of good news on Sunday was that Carson Wentz was able to suit up and start against the Tennessee Titans.

The bad news? Quenton Nelson was carted off the field in the second quarter after suffering an apparent ankle injury after he was rolled up on during a short-yardage play. He walked very, very slowly off the field after taking a while to get up.

After spending time on the sideline with his shoe off and getting examined by the medical staff, they called for the cart and he’s now questionable to return … even though it feels a lot more ominous than that. Oh, that’s because moments later he was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Remember, Nelson underwent surgery on his right foot in early August, which almost didn’t have him ready for Week 1.

At this point, that’s all the information we have and more will likely be known at halftime, but any injury issues with Nelson beyond what’s already happening is troubling, no matter how you look at it.

Is this simply going to be a year where the Colts’ best offensive lineman and starting quarterback deal with nagging injuries that don’t allow them to play at 100% for a majority of the schedule? Based on the first three weeks of the season, it really seems that way, which is why there should be ample concern.

It doesn’t help that the Colts’ offensive line and quarterback depth are really, really bad, which we’ve discovered quickly in 2021.

The O-line has been among the worst in the league so far and that was with Nelson battling to ensure he was on the field for the start of the new campaign. Ryan Kelly and Mark Glowinski haven’t looked good. Braden Smith has been battling injuries. And Eric Fisher still needs time to get back to full speed as he recovers from an Achilles injury suffered last year.

Stay tuned for updates here, but we can almost assure you this will be problematic in more ways than one for the Colts.

Oh yeah, and Indy lost Kwity Paye for the rest of the game, too.
